What changed, and when

Every entry is a release that actually went out, dated the day it did.

Releases, newest first

  1. Video and media in card decks

Card decks now play video, audio and embeds, have layouts built around them, and open links as preview cards. The 21 card templates each got their own look.

    • NewA video, audio recording or embed on a card deck now plays. Paste a YouTube, Vimeo, Shorts or live link and it becomes a video; the frame keeps its shape on desktop, tablet and phone, and on a phone YouTube and Vimeo wait for a tap.
    • NewA new Video & media row in the card layout gallery: video, video beside notes, video with chapters, upright video, embedded document, and audio with a cover. Two more put a silent, looping clip beside the words or behind the title.
    • NewIn a video with chapters, click a chapter's time to jump the clip there and play it.
    • NewPaste a link that is not media and it becomes a link card: the site's name at once, then its title, description and picture. The whole card opens the link in a new tab.
    • ImprovedEach of the 21 card templates has its own motif pictures, card surface and media — a chaptered video, an upright clip, a silent clip behind the title, audio with a cover, an embedded document — and shows its own picture until you add a clip.
    • ImprovedSparse card slides now fill their frame with larger text and more open spacing, and words stay on their cards instead of running below the card backgrounds.
    • ImprovedA video still leads to its clip when exported: PDF and PowerPoint carry a link on it, and thumbnails and template previews show the video's poster instead of a grey plate.
    • FixedA card deck no longer risks stopping with a "Maximum update depth exceeded" error while it draws.
    • FixedPowerPoint import: text boxes set not to wrap no longer come in far too wide, pictures with a plain stretch fill their whole frame as in PowerPoint, and "Set Transparent Color" is kept.

  2. Card decks

A second kind of deck: slides built as a column of blocks, laid out again for whatever screen they are opened on — so a lesson shared to a phone reads as cards instead of a shrunken slide.

    • NewCreate → Card deck starts one, with any of 44 themes or none. Card templates start one too — there are 21.
    • NewThe + under any block adds the next one: text, bullets, cards, two columns, image and text, numbers, steps, timeline, quote or table. It takes its place in the column; the slide grows to fit.
    • NewMore than 70 card layouts in nine groups, from lesson and title slides to diagrams, each drawn in your deck's theme. Changing a slide's layout keeps what you wrote.
    • NewA picture or colour panel beside the column — left, right, top or behind the content — with up to three pictures.
    • NewCheck any slide at desktop, tablet and phone width while you edit.
    • NewThe share link, and HTML5, SCORM, xAPI and cmi5 exports, open a card deck as cards laid out for the viewer's screen. Questions and triggers work inside them.
    • ImprovedDrag a text, a picture or a component into a block to make it part of that block; drop it on the edge between two blocks to reorder instead.
    • RemovedThe separate Quiz and Game project types are gone from Create. Questions are not: the eight graded question types still go on any slide of any deck.
